Een androïde is een robot of mechanisch en mogelijk elektrisch wezen dat sterk op een mens lijkt en zich ook dusdanig gedraagt. De term androïde is afgeleid uit een samenstelling van Oudgrieks woorden ἀνήρ (anēr, man of mens) en εἶδος (eidos, beeld, vorm, gestalte). Een vrouwelijke variant wordt ook wel een gynoid of fembot genoemd. De androïde is niet alleen iets dat in de sciencefiction voorkomt. Sinds begin 21e eeuw worden er echte robots ontwikkeld die voldoen aan de definitie van een androïde.
